Website accessibility audits and ADA compliance fixes, done by hand.

The customers your website turns away never tell you. Egmer Consulting finds those barriers by hand and fixes them in your code.

An honest answerwhen rebuilding costs less than fixing.

More than 1 in 4 U.S. adults reports having a disability, according to the CDC.

A barrier does not send a warning. It sends silence.

A close friend of Melissa's lives with a visual impairment. She put it plainly: if she cannot use a website, she leaves and finds someone who made it possible. She does not file a complaint. You never learn she was there.

In the UK's 2019 Click-Away Pound survey of online shoppers with access needs, 69 percent said they simply leave a website that is hard to use.

An unlabeled form field. A button a keyboard cannot reach. Text too faint for low vision. Each one is a customer at your door, finding it locked.

ADA website lawsuits are not hypothetical.

Fixing what locks people out is the same job as lowering the exposure. There is no shortcut that handles one without the other.

A human audit

Automated scanners run first and catch part of the problem. The rest takes a person using your site the way your customers do, then writing down every place it stops them.

Remediation in the code

Every fix is made where the barrier lives, at the foundation. An overlay is not the solution. Once the code is fixed, an overlay can be the cherry on top.

The honest rebuild call

If fixing your site would cost more than rebuilding it properly, the report says so, even when that means a smaller invoice.

One knows what a barrier costs a person. The other knows what the fix costs in the code.

Three ways clients arrive

Wherever you start, the first step is the same: find out what is actually broken.

The letter already came.

A demand letter or a settlement, maybe after a widget that did not help. You want someone to go through the site by hand, fix it properly, and give you a record you can stand behind.

How the audit works

You have seen it happen to someone else.

A competitor, a headline in your industry, a customer who said something on your site did not work. You would rather pay for an audit now than a settlement later.

What the audit covers

Twelve months later.

The work is done and the site kept growing. New pages, products, and plugins bring new barriers. Staying accessible is simpler than becoming accessible twice.

How re-audits work

What Egmer Consulting will not sell you

  1. An overlay sold as the fix

A widget on top of a broken site is not a shield. EcomBack found that about 1 in 4 ADA website lawsuits in 2025 named a site that already had one installed.

  2. A compliance certificate

The Department of Justice has not adopted technical standards for private business websites, so there is no official certificate to issue. Anyone selling one is selling paper.

  3. A guarantee you will never be sued

Nobody can honestly promise that. You get a site more people can use, a lower risk, and a dated record of good faith work.

Straight answers

What is WCAG AA?

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the international standard for accessible websites. Level AA is the level the Department of Justice adopted for state and local government websites, and the benchmark commonly used for business websites. Egmer Consulting audits against WCAG 2.2 AA and treats it as the floor, not the finish line.

Is my website required to be accessible?

The ADA applies to businesses open to the public, and the Department of Justice has said the goods and services they offer online must be accessible, even though it has not set a technical standard for private businesses. This is general information, not legal advice. Talk to an attorney about your situation.

Can I just run a free checker?

Start with one. The free scan here is exactly that. But automated tools catch part of the problem, not all of it. Keyboard traps, confusing screen reader output, and focus you cannot see often take a person to find.

Will this stop me from being sued?

No one can promise that. A human audit, real fixes, and ongoing re-audits lower the risk and give you a documented good faith effort if a claim ever arrives.

Do you work with businesses outside my state?

Yes. Egmer Consulting works virtually with businesses across the United States.
